چکیده
ABSTRACT BACKGROUND Despite recent advances in antibiotic treatment, pyogenic ventricular brain infections are still associated with adverse clinical outcome 80% of affected patients and mortality rates approaching 60%. The limitation penetration into the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) challenges treatment. Intrathecal treatment remains an option for adjunctive therapy to intravenous (iv) antibiotics when iv fails sterilize CFS. Current options do not allow changing CSF composition without adversely affecting intracranial pressure (ICP) power hydrogen (pH). OBJECTIVE To investigate if exchange has impact on ventriculitis patients. METHODS We report 2 cases treated a new active system that consists dual-lumen catheter facilitate irrigation drainage coupled intelligent digital pump. RESULTS This technique allowed us change antibiotic-consisted fluid. resulted ability directly modify concentration targeted CSF, while simultaneously removing bacterial mass harming tissue controlling ICP pH. CONCLUSION Our reported experience shows purulent caused by healthcare-associated or meningitis is now possible also Actively pus altering this manner had infection penetration. Further needed confirm our algorithm correctly tailored assist clinicians reliably treating catastrophic condition.

A cerebrospinal fluid leucocidin in pyogenic meningitis.
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples were tested for their cytotoxicity to polymorphonuclear neutrophil leucocytes (PMN) using a 51Cr release assay. Most samples from patients with pyogenic meningitis damaged PMN while normal CSF samples did not. No difference was found between the cytotoxic activity of CSF from patients with pneumococcal meningitis and from patients with meningococcal meningitis....
متن کاملCerebrospinal fluid pressure in pyogenic meningitis.
The pressure of cerebrospinal fluid taken at lumbar puncture was recorded objectively by strain gauge pressure measurement in 35 infants and children with pyogenic meningitis. Raised pressures were found in 33 children. The median pressure was 15 mm Hg (range 4-70 mm Hg) in all age groups. The pressure level varied throughout the infection, but a higher median pressure (19 mm Hg) was found when...

The results of treatment of 50 cases of ventriculitis associated with the use of cerebrospinal fluid shunts or external ventricular drains, and treated with intraventricular vancomycin, are reported. While the overall cure rate was 66% with four cases lost to follow-up, in those cases where treatment involved shunt removal, 20 mg vancomycin daily intraventricularly, and another appropriate syst...
متن کاملChemotactic activity of cerebrospinal fluid in pyogenic meningitis.
Cerebrospinal fluid from patients with pyogenic meningitis was found to be chemotactic for polymorphonuclear neutrophil leucocytes. No significant difference was found between the mean chemotactic activity of cerebrospinal fluid obtained from patients with pneumococcal meningitis or meningococcal meningitis. The chemotactic factor present in cerebrospinal fluid is probably a low molecular weigh...
